Our team members, Todwick Studios and Nutbar Knits handcraft their unique decor items locally in Nova Scotia, Canada. Woven using tactile, Canadian wool, these hand-woven, and knit hand-made products are general favourites.
This wool placemats and cushions are environmentally friendly. Natural wool is a sustainable fibre. Farmers and ranchers shear their sheep at least annually as their fleece doesn’t shed. Since, without this regular shearing the fleece overgrows potentially harming the sheep.
The wool, a robust hand knitting yarn, will withstand years of use. Unlike the more common merino these yarns have more body and a firmer hand. Therefore, our local hand-knitters favour this sturdy Canadian yarn spun in Atlantic Canada for knitting outdoor wear, likewise, we prefer this yarn for our specialties also.
Many customers are concerned about happy sheep. Therefore, we use 100% ethically sourced Canadian wool! We are fortunate in Canada. The harsh methods used by ranchers elsewhere to keep their sheep healthy are not necessary here.
Easy Care Wool
As part of our customer service we provide a cleaning solution sample. Wool is easy care with the right washing techniques and mild soap or detergent. As part of our product info we recommend products such as Eucalan.
The washing method is simple, soak your wool place mat in cool water, squeeze out the excess water, don’t wring. Next, roll in a towel and lay the cushion flat to dry.
Color may vary slightly from yarn batch to yarn batch. Therefore, we advise our customers to purchase all the placemats they require at the same time.
